The best of both worlds: Ski touring with Helicopter support each day!
Scandic Mountain Guides offers Heli-Assisted Ski Touring trips in Iceland from March 5th until May 31st 2019. Our skiing area in Iceland, the Troll Peninsula, has endless options to offer for Heli-Assisted Ski Touring. This package is the perfect combination of Ski Touring and Heliskiing where we use a helicopter to access several different Ski Touring destinations.
Whether you are skiing from the mountain tops all the way down to the ocean or enjoying skiing in different valleys between the high mountains inland, each day is a new experience! The great advantage about this package is the flexibility and use of the helicopter to access the best skiing areas. Another great addition is the option to add extra heli drops at the end of the day when the helicopter comes back to retrieve the group.
Each day starts with a helicopter drop to access our Ski Touring areas. That way our guests get a good warm up run and get their legs working. Then the group will start skinning up to the next mountain top and normally continuing on to do 1 or 2 long Ski Touring runs each day in the beautiful fjords. Our guests will enjoy lunch stops somewhere along the way. At the end of the last Ski Touring run the helicopter will pick up the group again to do the last ride back down to our Lodge, where you will have followed by a relaxing après ski and swapping of stories about the incredible day.
In terms of Ski Touring and Heliskiing, there are very few places in the world with as many possibilities as the Troll Peninsula in Iceland. The area is vast and largely unexplored. During winter you can ski until dark and watch the majestic Northern Lights dance in the sky. In spring, there is nothing like skiing down slopes in between the towering peaks, ending the ride where the shoreline meets the North Atlantic all the while enjoying the midnight sun.
